Ali Hargreaves is an established artist based in Poynton, Cheshire. She paints a wide variety of subjects using a range of media.
She started working life as a primary school teacher, but (due to degenerative hearing loss) has changed direction and followed her passion for art. She is now making a successful career out of it.
Ali specialises in “the great outdoors,” painting subjects that are close to her heart, such as climbers, ice climbers, cavers, skiers, canoeists, and, also, the ever changing dramatic scenery in which these take place.
She also loves flowers and paints them using vibrant colours with lots of interesting textures. Her own poems are often incorporated, subtly, into the paintings.
Her favourite technique is using “mixed media.” That is using watercolour as a base and adding collage, pastel, pen, acrylic and print.
She welcomes commissions, and works closely with the client consulting them at regular stages, from initial sketches to ideas on colours, size etc
Ali also teaches. She makes lessons fun and has a natural, relaxed teaching style. She runs regular “watercolour classes” and “textile Art” in Wilmslow and Poynton, Cheshire. Her painting workshops, on the occasional Saturday, are a real treat and are very popular.
Ali exhibits her work permanently at “Outside” in Hathersage, Derbyshire and at other outdoor events during the year. If you wish to be added to her mailing list, please contact her.
