Ali started working life as a primary school teacher, but (due to degenerative hearing loss) has changed direction and followed her passion for art. She is now making a successful career out of it.
Ali specialises in “the great outdoors,” painting subjects that are close to her heart, such as climbers, ice climbers, cavers, skiers, canoeists, and, also, the ever changing dramatic scenery in which these take place.
She loves flowers and paints them using vibrant colours with lots of interesting textures. Her own poems are often incorporated, subtly, into the paintings.
Her favourite technique is using “mixed media.” That is using watercolour as a base and adding collage, pastel, pen, acrylic and print.
She welcomes commissions, and works closely with the client consulting them at regular stages, from initial sketches to ideas on colours, size etc
Her work as an Artist in Residence in schools was exciting. She specialised in making a Big Impact , producing huge murals, sculptures and developing sketch books. Her work was varied and stimulating.
This experience, together with twenty years experience as a Primary school teacher lead to her being the Tutor for "Ready Steady Paint."
Ali runs regular adult classes in Poynton, Cheshire. The classes are fun, vibrant and informative.
She also demonstrates and runs workshops for local art groups and societies.
